Lisa Roberts
Lisa Roberts has worked as a journalist, a nonprofit leader, and MLA and now is an experienced community builder with a passion for making people’s lives better. Now, she is standing again with Jagmeet Singh and the NDP team.
Lisa became the MLA for Halifax Needham in an August 2016 byelection and was re-elected in 2017. During her time with the NDP caucus in the Nova Scotia legislature, she was a prominent voice on issues ranging from affordable housing to climate action and forestry.
She is a passionate community builder, who has held leadership positions with Veith House and Nourish Nova Scotia – organizing community meals and gardens, promoting non-market housing development, and supporting other initiatives that bring diverse neighbours together.
Previously, she had a career in journalism, primarily with CBC Radio. Lisa has undergraduate and master’s degrees from Dalhousie University - in international development studies and development economics - and speaks French and Spanish. She lives in Halifax with her partner and two teenage children in a messy but energy-efficient house with a garden where the rhubarb and chives come back every year.
As an MP, Lisa will fight for action on the issues that matter to people here: affordability, pharmacare, housing, and action on the climate crisis.
